a brass plate with engraving on it was the perfect solution, all the while achieving a antique look.
wooden pen rest will be coated with thicker type of urushi (below is just a thin type urushi prototype), with possibly thicker type of brass plate (below just 0.5mm, 1mm+ could be done).
as of now, mass produceable approach is under study, and will be completed within 1~3 weeks.
